Dennis Opp, age 63 of Elgin, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Jacobson Memorial Hospital in Elgin.

The Funeral Service for Dennis will be held at 1:00pm, MT Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Assembly of God Church in Elgin. Pastor David Skjoldal will officiate with burial in the Assembly of God Cemetery.

Special music will be provided by Nyla Tietz.

Serving as casketbearers are Wade, Bo, and Preston Dachtler, Blaine Ottmar, Darnell Beck, and Eb Harnish. All of Dennis's nieces, nephews, and cousins are considered honorary bearers.

Dennis Ray Opp was born September 5, 1950 in Elgin, ND to Raymond and Rosina (Luithle) Opp. He attended Odessa Country School north of Burt where he graduated from the eighth grade. In 1964, they moved to a farm north of Glen Ullin and Dennis attended high school in Glen Ullin.

He began farming and ranching with his parents north of Glen Ullin and later farmed north of Burt for a short time. When his health began to fail he began working partime for area farmers in the Elgin area where he has resided since 1986. Dennis especially enjoyed working with cattle and horses. He enjoyed hanging around at Wade's service station and helping out wherever he could.

Dennis is survived by his mother, Rose, and brother, Merlyn, both of Glen Ullin, ND; brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Marjorie Opp, Flasher, ND; 2 nieces, Roxie (David) Phliiger and Destiny, and Tina Opp, and 1 nephew, Randy Opp, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and special friends, Wade, Bo, and Preston Dachtler.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Opp, his grandparents, John and Helen Opp, and Albert and Rosina Luithle.

Visitation will be on Monday from 9:00 to 11:00 at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin and one hour prior to services at the Assembly of God Church in Elgin.
