Visitation for Dennis Martin, age 64, of Lemmon, SD, will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon, SD.  A graveside committal service will follow Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Gallaway Cemetery south of Meadow, SD.

Dennis Dean Martin was born on February 25, 1956, in Lemmon, SD, to Floyd and Rose (Schopp) Martin.  He attended elementary school at Thompson Rural Country School near his home, Meadow Central School for Junior High and graduated from Bison High School in 1974.

He worked for various farmers and ranchers throughout his high school years.  Following his schooling, Dennis was employed with various businesses in the Bison and Lemmon area until his health forced him to retire.  Health issues plagued him throughout the last 20+ years of his life which he handled with a wry, sarcastic sense of humor.  His son, Colt was born on February 24, 1984 and was Dennis's pride and joy.  He spent many days teaching him his hunting skills.

Dennis was a confirmed member of the Indian Creek Lutheran Church and served as a councilman on the Lemmon City Council.  He loved to repair and build any sort of firearms and belonged to many sites where he exchanged and sold parts, some that he had designed and made himself.  He traveled to many gun shows while he could over various cities in the state.  He also loved to hunt.  Coyotes and prairie dogs were some of his favorites.  He was an excellent marksman.

Dennis passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND.

He is survived by his mother, Rose Martin, Shadehill, SD; son Colt (Amanda Newton) Martin, Spearfish, SD; a twin brother, Duane (Jo Ellen) Martin, Kalispel, MT, brother, Allan Martin, Shadehill, SD; sister, Bonnie (Bob) Crow, Bison, SD; nephew, Joe (Michelle) Crow and great-nephew, Landon, of Anchorage, AK; niece, Micaela (Scott) Martin and great-nieces, Jaeden, Kiley and Tayley of Rapid City, SD; and numerous friends.
