The Life of a Farmer ~ Dennis Dean Hummel

DENNIS HUMMEL was born on July 28, 1950, the eldest son of Jacob (Jakie) and Esther (Wolf) Hummel. He was raised on the family farm, and at a very young age, started helping his dad. This grew into his life-long love for farming. Dennis graduated from Mott Lincoln High School in 1969 and continued his education at Bismarck Jr. College where he graduated with a degree in diesel mechanics. He married his high school sweetheart, Myra Wiedmer on June 8, 1970. After a short period of employment with Olien's Auto and long-haul trucking, he partnered with his dad, Jakie and later incorporated Hummel Farms. In 2003, following the death of his dad, he moved back to his childhood farm and partnered with his son Shannon.

In his younger days, Dennis enjoyed racing his 1970 GTO Judge and was sponsored by Coca-Cola. He loved trapping, hunting, collecting WWII memorabilia and toy tractors, but first and foremost, farming was in his blood and he had an amazing love for the land. His pride and joy was his wife, children and granddaughters.

Dennis was welcomed into heaven on February 27, 2016.

Grateful for having shared in Dennis' life are his wife, Myra, Mott, ND; two sons and
