Delores Arley Seim, age 88, of Lemmon, SD, peacefully passed away with her sons in hand on January 21, 2022 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND.

Memorial services for Delores will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Chapel of the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon, SD.  Rev. Tera Kossow will officiate with burial to be held at a later date.

Delores was born on April 4, 1933, to parents Harley and Belva (Young) Milner.  She was the youngest of seven children raised on their prairie homestead in Perkins County, SD.  She attended Date Grade School, and boarded in town while attending Bison High School.  There she also worked at a local café as a waitress.
Delores first married Edward Gebhard and had two sons, Gary and Salvin.  They relocated from Armour, SD, to Wyoming and raised their boys while managing various restaurants and country clubs.  In 1977, Delores moved to Billings, MT, where she lived closer to her grown sons and their families.  Besides being a devoted grandma, she also made lifelong friends at her workplace, a local sign company.

Her many return trips to South Dakota to visit siblings offered the opportunity to rekindle an old romance.  Wilford Seim and Delores courted briefly before marrying on April 5, 1995.  They lived 17 years on Wilford's remote ranch near Shadehill.  Winters could be harsh there and with only a pickup trail for access, they were often snowed in for several days. On pleasant days they relaxed while listening to their cattle in the quiet calm of their surroundings.  Eventually they made their transition to town in October 2012.  They lived comfortably in their Lemmon home.  They enjoyed playing cards and the coffee was always brewing when family and friends stopped.

Delores and Wilford were avid gardeners and proud of their bounty.  She enjoyed woodworking and crafts.  Her beautifully embroidered dish towels and endless crocheted afghans became gifts for friends and family.  Delores enjoyed word puzzles and card games which later became her encouragement and therapy.  She delighted in the children of her self-adopted granddaughter, Anne Mutschler (Keith) and was quickly dubbed G-G-ma by Tessa and Ava.

Delores leaves behind her sons, Gary (Roxanne) Gebhard, Salvin (Laurie) Gebhard; grandchildren, Cher, Dawn, RoniSue, Raleigh, Gunnar and Gavin; great and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wilford; brothers, Harold, Cecil and Claire; and sisters, Dolly, Darlene and Dorothy.
