Mandan
Delores's Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, March 10th at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Hettinger, ND.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Delores (Davidson) Galbreath (formerly of Hettinger, ND). Born on Christmas Day in 1936 to Sigurd and Evelyn (Patrick) Davidson, Delores enriched the lives of many in her 88 years. Delores passed away on February 27, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Nursing home in Mandan, ND.
Remembered as a natural born caregiver, Delores dedicated her life to helping others. Delores's legacy of hard work and compassion will live on through her family: daughters - Debbie Galbreath, Ohnara and Tracy (Galbreath) Minh, grandchildren - Parker Minh, Regan Minh, Vanessa Galbreath, and Christopher Galbreath, and her brother and sister - Conrad Davidson and Connie Stockert. Delores was predeceased by her husband, Vance Galbreath, her sons, Barry and Mark Galbreath, and her parents, Sigurd and Evelyn Davidson.
Delores's journey began in Hettinger, ND where she attended school until the 8th grade when she began to work. Over the years, she held a series of jobs, including positions at the City Cafe, Red Owl; the Telephone Company in Lemmon, SD; Beaumont's, the Lumberyard in Haynes, ND; and Dakota Western Bank. She also served as a Sarah Coventry Dealer, a Hettinger School bookkeeper, pool maintenance person, bank teller at Dakota Western, and a waitress at the Pastime Steak House.
Delores spent many of her adult years caring for others. When her father was hurt in a farming accident, she went above and beyond to help her mother with her father and the farm. In 1976, Delores's husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. She was his main caregiver and financial provider for over 20 years. Her family recalls that not once did Delores complain about being a caregiver. She was an emotionally strong individual that gave of herself to others freely.
A faithful servant, Delores was a regular attendee at the Hettinger Lutheran Church and United Methodist Church. Whenever Delores saw a role that needed to be filled, she willingly took on the responsibility. For example, when the Hettinger Stingrays Swim Team needed a coach, she filled the role in order to keep the program alive. Another example of her dedication was to the Hettinger Park Board where she solidified herself as the longest-serving member of the organization. Delores always gave 100% to any organization she was a member of.
Delores found joy in life's simple pleasures. Her love for authentic Norwegian food and sweets was undeniable, as was her fondness for word search books and the TV show Wheel of Fortune. She was an admirer of Daniel O'Donnell's music, but her all-time favorite musician was her grandson, Parker. Her favorite sport was swimming, proudly supporting swimmers in many aspects, and she became her granddaughter, Regan's, number 1 fan when it came to swimming.
Delores's drive, compassion, and dedication will be remembered by all who knew her. She imparted the value of helping others to her family, which was her greatest accomplishment in life. Her grandkids, Parker and Regan, were the apples of her eye and they held a special place in her heart.
Delores (Davidson) Galbreath will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
