Obituary

Della Dreis, 88 of Faulkton formerly of Meadow, SD passed away Monday, November 16 2015 at the home of her daughter (Janet Bohn).
Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m. (MT) Friday, November 27, 2015 at Indian Creek Lutheran Church south of Meadow and on November 29, 2015 at 2 p.m. in Faulkton and the Faulkton Senior Living Meadows Chapel.

Della Sophia (Kopren) Dreis was born August 7, 1927 to Louis and Martha (Larson) Kopren just south of Bison at the home place. She was the second child born of five children. She grew up going to a country school till the eighth grade, just a few miles north of the home place in Perkins County. Della was a very quiet girl. Della was a money saver and held onto it very close even though her two younger brothers would always try to talk her out of some that she had saved. Della preferred to be in the house so she learned to do the cooking and cleaning and her younger sister would be the one helping with all the outside work. Della, having four siblings, was like a young mother to them, or she tried to be.

When Della was younger she had Polio which left her left leg longer than her right, but that seemed to never stop her from going on with many different activities as a young adult.

The time came that Della met a young man, John R. Dreis, at a local dance. They dated for a year or so and were united in marriage at the American Lutheran Church in Bison, SD on August 19, 1956. In this joining they were blessed with three children. Janet on February 10, 1958, Marc on March 8, 1959, and Timothy on June 13, 1960. Della raised her family on the Dreis Charolais Ranch in Ziebach County with her husband John. She had cooked for three other men on the place for the first few years of her marriage. Then her father-in-law passed away in 1963, but she still was the housekeeper, baker, dishwasher, cook, and did a few chicken and bum lamb chores on the side. In her spare time she would embroider on dish towels and give them away as gifts.
She belonged to the Indian Creek Women of the ELCA for many years helping out with many of the activities they held throughout the year. She never learned to drive so her elderly neighbor Alma Witte would drive over to visit her or they would go to their women's meetings together.

March 29, 2009 Della and John had moved to Faulkton to live closer to their daughter (Janet) and resided at the Faulkton Senior Living. Then Della lost her husband of 54 years to cancer in January of 2011. She resided at the home until September 29, 2015 where she then moved into her daughter's home to be closer to her family. There she was able to watch her great-grandchildren play and grow.

She enjoyed listening to all their wild stories and their laughter they brought with them every time they came to visit.

Survivors include her daughter, Janet (Bill) Bohn of Faulkton, SD, six grandchildren Jennifer Bohn (Robbie Miller) of Faulkton, Tory (Savanna) Bohn of Skiatook, OK, Kelly (Clint) Ortmeier of Cresbard, Felicia (Jaime) Parkins, Caitlyn Dreis, and Alex Dreis all of Germany and seven great-grandchildren; DJ, Timothy, John, Quinn, Blaire, Tyron, and Wyatt; one sister Cleo (Wally) Miller, of Sturgis, SD; two brothers Norman Kopren of Hettinger, ND and Merle (Jean) Kopren, of Sturgis, SD; sister-in-law Darlene Kopren, of Sturgis, SD many nephews and nieces, and also was still cherished by the Faulkton Senior Living staff.

She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Martha (Larson) Kopren, husband John in 2011, two sons Timothy in 2001 and Marc in 2008, one brother Dean and sister-in-law Genevive.
