Danny Reece, age 64, of New Leipzig, ND, passed away at his home in New Leipzig on Monday, October 30, 2023.
A time of sharing memories will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024, in the banquet room at Our Place Cafe on Main Street in Elgin, ND.
Danny William Reece was born November 27, 1958 to Elmer and Wilma(Barnes) Reece in Ontario, Oregon. He and his 7 brothers and sisters grew up and attended school in Ontario. He had a happy and normal childhood. According to his stories he was a handful for his parents.
He learned at a young age that you had to work hard and that carried over into his adulthood. He enlisted in the US Army and served in the Motor Pool Division. He was stationed in Ft. Riley, KS and both Fort Wayne Wright and Anchorage in Alaska, He received an honorable discharge and often talked about his buddy's while in the service. He was a proud Veterans and always had a flag flying in the front yard.
He spent most of his adult years in Bend, Oregon working as a Heavy Equipment Operator, helping build many housing developments in and around Bend. He also spent some time in Georgia where he worked building high rises. One of which is the Peach Tree Tower.
In the mid 90's he met Shirlene Schaffner and remained together until the end. In 1996 they moved to Elgin, ND then to New Leipzig, so that Shirlene could help her Mom. He worked as a carpenter in Elgin and New Leipzig and credits his Grandpa Barnes as the man who taught him his trade. He was an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter until his health prevented him from doing so. He was never one to sit and do nothing. Anyone who knew him, knew that he danced to the beat of his own drum.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, 2 brothers Aron and Ron Reece and very special friend Ivalo Sprecher.
He is survived by Shirlene his partner for 30 years; son, David (Jessica) Reece and grandson's Keith, Brady and Austin; daughter Trisha Reece and granddaughter Cienna Reece; sisters Letha (John) Harrison, Kathy Stanley and Debbie Reece, brothers Rick (Mary) Reece and Ed (Sue) Reece and special nephew Chad Reece, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
