Funeral services for Danny R. Hinton, age 66, of Shields, will be held at 10:00AM CT Friday, March 24, at the Selfridge School Gymnasium. Rev Marcus Bakke will officiate with burial in the Selfridge Cemetery.


Special music will be provided by Evelyn Lund.


Serving as Honorary Casketbearers are Jake Haider, Arlan Haider, Mike Sandland, and all of Danny's friends and family.


Serving as Active Casketbearers are Steven Snider, Willy Kraft, Victor Kraft, Larry Morgan, David Volk, Danny Hinton, Kirk Halverson, and Kelly Halverson.


A memorial has been established.


DANNY RYAN HINTON was born June 5, 1939 at Flasher, ND to Homer O. and Hazel C. (Ryan) Hinton. He grew up on the family farm 9 miles south of Shields. He attended a country school and high school in Selfridge graduating in 1957. Danny took over operation of the family farm and ranch which he operated to the time of his death. In addition to operating his farm and ranch, he also worked for the Selfridge cheese plant hauling milk and cheese locally and on trips to Wisconsin and for the Sioux County Highway Department for many years.


He was diagnosed with cancer in 2002 and has been battling it since. He passed from this life on Monday evening, March 20, at the Jacobson Memorial Hospital Care Center in Elgin at the age of 66 years, 9 months, 15 days.


Danny enjoyed collecting guns and tractors.


Surviving family members include 1 brother, Francis "Bucky" Hinton, Glendive, MT; 2 sisters, Donna Halverson, Santa Ana, CA; Alice Schuler, Wilton, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Danny was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Marjorie Cain; 1 nephew Tommy Hinton.
