Dallas Schecher was born on a farm southeast of Bison, SD on March 11, 1923 to William and Eleanora (Otterdahl) Schecher. She attended Lone Tree grade school and graduated from Bison High School in 1940.

Shortly after graduation she went to Detroit, MI to visit her aunt and uncle. While there she found employment with the Johnson Milk Depot. Her job was to drive around Detroit in a new 1940 Ford Coupe to pick up receipts from their various stores. After Pearl Harbor she went to work in a defense plant making springs for just about everything (in her words). Early in 1946 she went to Tucson, AZ where she worked as a telephone operator. From there she went to Spokane, WA and returned to Bison in 1946. She was employed in the Perkins County Treasurers Office and then with the ASCS Office for 27 years and 7 months, retiring in 1984.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Preszler on June 9, 1949 at Bison, SD. They shared their life together on the Preszler homestead in Meadow, SD where she spent the next 59 years. Ray farmed and cared for the livestock and Dallas commuted to Bison and her jobs for 35 years. She was a member of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Christ Evangelical Ladies Aid, American legion Auxiliary and the Town and Country Extension Club.

Dallas passed away early Thursday morning May 22 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger.

Dallas is survived by her brother, Leroy (Carol) Schecher; nephew, Larry (Joan) Schecher; niece Janet Schecher; great-niece Kelsey Schecher, and great nephew, Bradley Schecher, all of Rapid City, SD.

Dallas was preceded in death by her parents William and Eleanora Schecher, her husband Raymond, grandparents Conrad and Catherine Schecher and Rasmus Otterdahl and Helen Svenson.
