Clifford was born in Edgemont, SD on June 25, 1935. He was the last of six children born to Harry R. Porter and Louise (Kurth) Porter. Clifford was raised on his family ranch near Edgemont, SD and lived there until he moved to town (Edgemont) with his mother in 1953 when his father passed away. While growing up, Clifford worked in the hay fields and assisted with other chores on the family ranch, which his brother Everett had taken over. As an adult, Clifford lived in Rapid City, SD, Yankton, SD and Redfield, SD, performing a variety of jobs including, a meat cutter, a baker and a variety of janitorial jobs. On February 5, 1991, Clifford moved from Redfield, SD to Lemmon, SD, where he resided until the time of his death.

While in Lemmon, Clifford was a participant at LIVE, Inc. He loved to watch movies, especially the "I Love Lucy Show", "Bugs Bunny", "Bonanza", and the "Andy Griffith Show", laughing and giggling while watching or talking about these shows to others. For the past several years prior to his death, he had retired and participated in many recreational and leisure activities through LIVE's retirement program. Some of Clifford's favorite things in life were banana splits, animals (especially farm animals), picnics at Shadehill and going for drives in the country. It made him very happy and excited when he would talk about his family from Edgemont.

Clifford is survived by a nephew, Everett Porter, a niece, Lucille Decker and another niece, Darlene Wright . He was preceded in death by his father, Harry, and mother, Louise; brothers, Melvin, Harley, and Leland, and sisters, Zella Martinson and Mildred Evens.

Holding him in their fondest memories are his many friends at LIVE, Inc.
