He was active in basketball and played for both St. Mary's and Lemmon High School.
After high school, Chuck joined the United States Navy serving on the west coast. After several years in the Navy, he started in the construction business with his cousin, Leonard Goeres, in Dickinson, ND. In early 1960, Chuck went to Oregon and worked in several plywood mills. He would work in the mills during the winter and work road construction in the summer.

During the last 12 years of his life, Chuck was known as the King of the sticker business. Known coast-to-coast and border-to-border as Pancho the Sticker Man, he built a vinyl sticker empire and his sticker-covered motor home was known everywhere. Chuck's love of laughter kept the crowds entertained for years. He was happiest making others laugh.
