Clarence LeRoy Schock was born in Deering, ND on April 4 th , 1938 to Leo and Emilie K. (Helfenstein) Schock. He spent most of his childhood on the family farm south of Leith, ND with his parents and his siblings, Eldon, Lucille and August. Clarence graduated from Elgin High School in 1957. After graduation he farmed and ranched with his parents until he met the love of his life and got married on September 13, 1962 to Twyla Bentz. Their first five years of marriage were on a ranch north of Morristown SD where he ranched and did custom swathing. This is where the first 3 kids, Velvet, Velecia and Vance were born. Verland came along while they were living south of Leith near his parent's farm. In 1972 they got the opportunity to purchase their first farm north of Carson from his uncle August G. Schock and this is where Verrick was born. They stayed there for 36 years raising their kids and cattle before moving back to his parent's farm south of Leith.

Clarence had a passion for raising small grains and Limousin cattle. He took the most pride in his cattle, improving upon them year after year. His favorite season was calving season. He made sure that it went off without a hitch. He took great pride in watching the calves grow and selling them in the fall.

He had a love for horses and his cattle. They trailed cattle over 38 miles home from Shields ND for 22 years. He loved the comradery of the long days in the saddle with his family and friends sharing stories and the eventful memories that came from the cattle drive. Because of his love of horses, he helped establish the West River Teamsters with his brother, Eldon, his sons and his nephews. He also was involved in General Sully Days for a few years where they did play day events and staged shoot outs.

He also served on the Zion Lutheran Church council numerous terms over the years and in the church choir. His church was very important to him.

Pranks were common with him. If he came to visit and you weren't home, you always knew he had been there as there were always random things piled in front of your front door when you returned home. This was his calling card. As he grew older his favorite past time was his grandkids. He loved to play with them and tease them endlessly. "Oh Grandpa!" was a phrase that you would often hear.

He is survived by the love of his life, Twyla Schock; children, Velvet (Perry) Finck, Elgin ND, Velecia (Randy) Rath, Hazelton ND; Vance (Patty) Schock, Baldwin ND; Verland Schock, Carson ND; Verrick (Sarah) Schock, Carson ND; 13 grandchildren Brody (Becca) Finck, Christy Finck, SaVanna (Nate) Schmidt, Shane Rath, Sierra (Joe) Guches, Sambrea (Brandon) Loftis, Kyla (Tyler), Kaitlyn, and Kalyssa Schock, Senora, Ivy, Treyvn, and Heston Schock; and 5 great grandchildren; his sisters in law, Evy Bentz, Wanda Schock, Ruth Mund, Abbie Sullivan, Karen (Tom) Kapla; brothers in law, Harold Bentz, Ernie (Rosie) Bentz, and Lawerence (Lillian) Bentz; and numerous nephews and nieces.
