Charlotte Hillius, age 82, of Elgin, ND, passed away in Bismarck, ND, on Sunday, December 22, 2024.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., (UPDATED TIME) on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the Hope Congregational Church in Elgin, ND.

Charlotte Hillius, age 82, was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 22, 2024. Born to John and Edna Hoffman in Elgin, ND on August 28, 1942. She grew up on a small family farm north of Elgin, ND. She attended a country school and graduated from Elgin Public School. She married the love of her life, James Hillius of Leith, ND. They were married in 1960 and lived on the Hillius family farm south of Leith, ND for 18 years. They were married for 32 years and were blessed with three children (Jeffrey, Vickie, and Stephanie). Charlotte enjoyed the farm life and worked hard raising chickens, bum lambs, milk cows, cattle, and hogs. Then they later moved to Elgin where she enjoyed gardening, raising beautiful flowers, and enjoyed playing with her grandchildren. Having various jobs throughout the years in Elgin, her favorite was "Head Cook" for the Farmers Union Camp. The children treated her like their own mother. She made their favorite meals and snacks, especially "monster cookies."

After the passing of her husband, James, Charlotte moved to Bismarck, ND where she loved reading, biking, playing golf, taking long walks, and playing with her great grandchildren. She worked several jobs including Manager of Environmental Services for Waterford Assisted Living and Valley View.

Her faith in Jesus Christ was her source of comfort when she suffered a major medical injury in August of 2003. From then on, Charlotte experienced years of health concerns resulting in assisted living at Edgewood and then Benedictine Living Nursing Home in Bismarck.

Left to mourn her loss are her three children, Jeffrey (Darla) Hillius, Vickie (Dan) Sellers, and Stephanie Hillius; Grandchildren: Jesse (Stephanie) Hillius; Great GrandChild- Emily; Jarrett (Brianne) Hillius; Great GrandChild- Abrielle; Joe (Stacy) Hillius; Great GrandChildren- Emma, Greyson, Tatum; Colter (Shiann) Sellers; Great GrandChild- Sheridan; Casey (Casey Rae) Sellers.

Sisters; Marcella (Pat) Smith, Cheryl (Bill) Wutzke, Linda Gomez.

Brothers; John (Connie) Hoffman, James (Marlene) Hoffman, Mark (Pam) Hoffman, Tom (Anna) Hoffman.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Hillius; father and mother, John and Edna Hoffman; sisters, Lola Junker, LaRue Jarhaus, Margret Hoffman; brother, Jeffrey Hoffman; mother-in-law, Eva Hillius; and father-in-law, Otto Hillius.
