Funeral services for Charles "Chuck" Peterson, age 82, of Lemmon, SD, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Lemmon, SD. Pastor John Irwin will officiate with burial to follow in the Greenhill Cemetery in Lemmon.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon. A family service will follow the visitation beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Charles Peterson was born January 15, 1934, in Adams County, ND, the eldest son of Carl Robert and Winnie (Larson) Peterson. Although he attended school through just 8th grade, he was a voracious reader, and especially loved history. After short stints running heavy equipment and working for a plumber, he returned to his lifelong career of farming and ranching. At various times he served on the school board, township board, and in 4-H Leadership.

He married Rosemary Haley on October 18, 1958. They raised three children on the family farm and taught them the value of faith, love, and hard work. He took amazing care of Rosemary as she succumbed to cancer, and lost her in 2010. His example of love and faithfulness through this difficult time touched many.
June 14, 2015, the day after his farm auction, he married Eileen (Kallis) Gibbons. She brought love and joy to his last year, and immediately became part of the family.

Chuck enjoyed being a father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He supported his children and grandchildren in all they did. He loved to fly, hunt pheasant and drive his team. He loved to tease everyone from his wife and family, to the waitress wherever he went. He lived the golden rule and will be remembered for his willingness to lend a hand.

Blessed to have shared his life are his wife, Eileen(Kallis), son Manley (Laurel) of Dawson, MN, daughters Marla (Brian) Pederson, New Town, ND, and Myrna (Doug) Becht, Clear Lake, SD; grandchildren, Dustin (Megan) Peterson, Dani Peterson, Darci (Mike) Neugebauer, Corey Pederson, Samantha Becht, Alyssa (Justin) Cassels, Courtney Pederson, Cameron Pederson, and Alexandra Becht. He recently welcomed with joy his great grandchildren, Everett Neugebauer and twins Eli & Ellie Peterson.

Also left behind are siblings, Delores Long, Bob (Karen) Peterson, Rolly (Jane) Peterson, David (Sandy) Peterson and Ken (Pauline) Peterson; step-children/grandchildren Kerby Gibbons, Santana and Kalin; Pamela Gibbons, and Barry (Sara) Gibbons, Max and Jack.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and Rosemary.

On March 10, 2016, Charles met his Savior face to face.
