Carla
Zich
Jan 30, 1954 — Jul 4, 2025
Carla Faye Zich, age 71, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, in Mandan, North Dakota.
Born on January 30, 1954, to Edvin and Mathilda "Tillie" Weickum, Carla lived a life filled with love, laughter, and deep devotion to her family. She shared her life with her beloved husband Dale, building a home that became the heart of many cherished memories.
Carla was the middle of 5 sisters. She attended school in Mott graduating in 1972.
On July 20, 1974 she married Dale. They built a home in Mott where they were blessed with 2 children, Stacy and Justin. The home remains a gathering place for family.
Carla and Dale enjoyed camping together as well as with family and friends. They also enjoyed traveling to warmer weather during the winter, taking trips to Las Vegas and Arizona.
Carla was a devoted mother to her daughter Stacy (Shannon) Lovelace of Fargo, ND, and her son Justin (Mary) Zich of Bismarck, ND. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren: Abigail and Brayden Lovelace of Fargo; Ethan, Bella, and Lilly Zich of Bismarck. She delighted in their accomplishments and never missed an opportunity to offer guidance-often with her signature phrase: "Don't do stupid shit," delivered with equal parts humor and heartfelt care.
She is also remembered by her sisters Sandra (Reed) Chernenko of Surprise, AZ, and Linda Keene of Delray Beach, FL, along with many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Carla was preceded in death by her parents, Edvin and Mathilda "Tillie" Weickum; and sisters Donna Weickum and Rhonda Weickum.
A woman of many interests and talents, Carla found joy in crafting—her creativity evident in the projects she lovingly made. She enjoyed camping trips that brought her closer to nature and golfing outings that blended fun with friendly competition. Time spent with family and friends was always treasured. Even at the end of each day, she made sure everyone was safe—checking her phone's location app before going to bed to ensure all were where they should be.
A private memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
Carla's warmth, wit, and unwavering care will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she loved so dearly.
Carla's friends and family are encouraged to sign her online guestbook.
