Boyd Wileman, age 78, of Rapid City, passed away on Sunday evening, June 15, 2008 surrounded by his family.


A Family Service for Boyd will be held at 11:00a.m. followed by a Service of Remembrance at 2:00p.m., all on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at the Prince of Peace Chapel of the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon. Pastor Gary Wileman and Pastor Brian McDaniel will officiate with burial in Greenhill Cemetery in Lemmon.


Special music will be provided by Sara Culver and Boyd's grandchildren.


Serving as casketbearers are Jeffrey and Darren Peterson, Christian Conrad, Clyde LaVake; Duane and Wes Wileman. All friends and family are considered honorary bearers.


Boyd was born on July 18, 1929 in Gurley, NE to Harry and Mabel (Walker) Wileman. He was the second of seven siblings. Boyd grew up on the ranch at White River south of Murdo, SD. He graduated from Murdo High School. Boyd and his wife Ruth (Hawkinson) Wileman were married on March 21, 1951. They ranched for several years in South Dakota before he moved to Minneapolis, MN. At the time of his death they had been married for 57 years. Boyd was a master diesel mechanic and worked in this area until he retired in 1996. He worked on the Alaska pipeline in Prudo Bay from 1976 – 1979 and it was the job that he most loved. After Boyd retired, he drove school bus in Tacoma, WA and then in Rapid City SD. He always wanted to be busy fixing or creating things with his hands. Boyd was always willing to lend a helping hand where he was needed.


Boyd had a heart for God. He had a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. Even when Alzheimer's had taken much of his memory his family and his love for God were never forgotten. He spent many hours reading God's word.


He is survived by his loving wife Ruth, his three daughters and their husbands, Patricia (Dennis) Peterson, Thunder Hawk, SD; Shirley (Butch) Conrad, Rapid City, SD; Joyce (Norm) Rolph, Tacoma, WA; his six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jodi) Peterson, Darren (Summer Joy) Peterson, Deanna (Brian) McDaniel, Nichole Townsend, Sarah Conrad and Christian Conrad, and 6 great grandchildren, Jaci, Jenna and Joelle Peterson, Rebekah and TC Peterson, and Ashlin McDaniel. He is also survived by his siblings Don (Darlene) Wileman of Finley, ND; Bonnie (Mel) Phillips of Hermiston, OR; Russell (Pat) Wileman of Prior Lake, MN; Dale (Marilyn) Wileman of Rapid City, SD; Nona (Jim) McCurdy of Hermiston, OR; Daryl (Judy) Wileman of Clark, SD.


He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Mabel (Walker) Wileman.


In lieu of flowers it is asked that people donate to a memorial fund at Open Bible Christian Center in Rapid City SD.


Visitation will be Wednesday 1:00 to 9:00pm; Thursday 9:00am to 2:00pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon.
