Funeral services for Betty Paulson, age 85, of Lemmon, SD, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Prince of Peace Chapel of the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon, SD.  Pastor Tara Kossow will officiate with burial to follow in the Greenhill Cemetery at Lemmon.

Betty Lucille was born to Nora and John Hay February 7, 1933 in rural Sioux County, near Thunder Hawk, SD.  On September 3, 1950, she married Ivan Paulson and together they ranched and farmed on the Paulson homestead near Shadehill, SD until Ivan's death in 1988.  Betty continued to operate the business with her son, Duane, until she retired and moved to Lemmon, SD.  Ivan and Betty had three sons, Kenneth, David, and Duane and one daughter, Kay.  Betty was known to be a hard worker, tending livestock and working the fields alongside her husband while taking care of the children, keeping the house and preparing all the meals.  She was a talented seamstress, sewing most of the family's clothing, creating quilts, and making dresses and clothing for others.  Betty often worked without patterns or altered existing patterns to create beautiful clothes.  She enjoyed playing pinochle, and cooking and entertaining at the family farm.  Betty was generous with her talents, and quick to give of her time and resources when needed.  She continued to work after retirement, most recently at Wheeler Manufacturing in Lemmon, as a custodian.

Betty passed away on Monday morning, June 4, 2018, at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Sandy) Paulson and Duane Paulson, all of Lemmon, SD; one daughter, Kay (Alan) Grinsteinner, Bison, SD; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; one brother, John (Connie) Hay, Lemmon, SD; and one sister, Martha Paulson, Lemmon, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan; one son, David, in infancy; one grandson, Leon Paulson; five sisters and one brother.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, June 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. all at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon.
