Betty "Jean" was born along with her twin sister, Nettie "June", to James and Viola (Bertz) Meade on July 28th 1931. They were born on the way to the hospital on the Fred Campbell farm SE of Elgin. Jean and June were raised on a homestead north of Morristown in North Dakota. They received their education at Park Schools and attended high school at Mott and Hettinger.
Jean and June even got married the same day to brothers. Jean married Dale Kling on Sept. 24th, 1949. They farmed and ranched their whole lives, eventually buying the Kling ranch at Keldron.
They raised three children: Veta (Leaun) Peterson - Rapid City, Lyle (Rita) - Keldron, Gene (Carol) - Lemmon. They also fostered many children throughout the years.
They raised and sold registered Hereford cattle, Jean typed up all the registered papers for all of the bulls they sold, naming the calves, and documenting all the sires and dams of each.
In their "retirement" winter years they eventually turned the work over to their sons and took off for many winters, living in parks in South Texas.
Jean was a member of Lemmon New Hope Church of God. In early years, she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She also served in the Ladies Auxiliary.
Jean passed into Heaven in her sleep just a week after her 91st birthday. She was so happy at her birthday party seeing all who came, but now she is free in mind and body, rejoicing in heaven with her Lord and all who have been waiting for her.
Keeping Jean in their fondest memories are her three children, Veta, Lyle, and Gene, her 5 grandchildren, her 6 great grandchildren, and her sister Yvonne (Ben) Weishaar.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Dale, her parents Jim and Viola, her brother Athol, her sister Lorraine, her twin sister June, and a very special niece Anita Hoag.
