Betty Mae
Jordan
Dec 7, 1937 — Aug 16, 2026
Betty Mae Jordan, age 88, of Mott, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at St. Gabriel's Benedictine Living Community in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Betty was born on December 7, 1937, in Burt, North Dakota, to Fred and Gertrude Roesler. She attended Mott High School and, after graduating, worked at the local grocery store, an insurance company, and the high school. During those years, Betty lived in an apartment above the hotel-restaurant on Main Street in Mott.
While working in Mott, Betty married Roger Hirsch. The couple moved to Fort Riley, Kansas, where they lived on base and welcomed their daughter, Susan. They later moved to Mott and then to Lemmon, South Dakota, where their second daughter, DeVonne, was born.
Betty and Roger divorced in 1976. In 1979, Betty married Gary Jordan and moved to a farm north of Mott, where she worked very hard and took great pride in farm life.
Betty was a woman who found joy in the simple things. She loved her morning coffee, gardening, cooking, and baking. She was especially known for making wonderful pies and bars and was always willing to prepare whatever was needed. Betty was an avid organ player and enjoyed sharing her musical talents with others.
Her faith and her church family were an important part of her life. Betty was actively involved in her church circle at St. Vincent's for many decades and treasured the friendships and fellowship she found there.
Betty will be remembered for her beautiful smile, generous spirit, and selfless nature. She was a hardworking and caring woman who always found ways to help others. Her kindness and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Fred Roesler; her mother, Gertrude Miller; and her only sibling, Marvin Roesler.
She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Ford (David Moore) of Sturgis, South Dakota, and DeVonne Schantz (Aaron) of Bismarck, North Dakota; four grandchildren, Cody Ford, Chansey Ford, Tessy Ford, and Alexis Schantz; and one great-grandchild.
Betty leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, faith, hard work, and selflessness. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
