Betty was born in Regent, ND on April 30, 1930 to Arthur Helfrich, Sr. and Anna (Lindemann) Helfrich and was raised on the farm before moving to Mott. She worked at a local dry cleaner's as a young adult before her move back to a farm when she married Wilbert Herner on November 14, 1951 at St Vincent's Church in Mott. There they raised grain and cattle and 4 boys! Betty would have to wait for her girls in the family until the grandkids came along!

Having come from a large family growing up and as a housewife on the farm, Betty had many talents and enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, crafting, and all around getting things done when they needed to get done – even when the boys got a little out of hand! Betty was a member of the St Vincent's parish, Catholic Daughters of America, Altar Society, and Hillside Homemakers.

Wilbert and Betty moved into Mott in 1993 and she continued to pursue her many gardening and baking skills along with her weekly card games with the local women's group! She also enjoyed all the school and sporting events and attended many games – especially proud of her grandkids' participation in those events.

Betty started her residency at the Good Samaritan Center in Mott in November 2017 and enjoyed the many activities provided, rarely missing the bingo games!

She is survived by her husband Wilbert – Mott, ND; sons and daughters-in-law Delbert "Del" (Barbara) – Meridian, ID; Dennis (Kathy) – Fargo, ND; Alan (Sharon) – Mott, ND; Arvin – Dickinson, ND; grandchildren Marcy (Matt) Werner (children Jackson & Mikayla) – Russell, MA; Chad (Jacinda) (child Tyson) – South Korea; Justin – Mandan, ND; Shantel (Austin Lemieux) – Bismarck, ND; Ethan & Seth – Fargo, ND; brothers & sisters-in-law Matthew (Margaret) Helfrich; Harvey (Katherine) Helfrich, Louis Helfrich, Vince Helfrich (Ella Nesheim), Kenneth (Vicki) Helfrich, Gary (Violet) Helfrich; sisters & brothers-in-law Delores (Mike) Frieze, Mary Ann (Harry) Weidmer, and Victor Messmer.

She was preceded in death by her parents & stepmother Magdalena, brothers & sisters-in-law Arthur Jr (Loretta), Anton (Irene), sisters Clara Messmer,  Patricia "Patty" Helfrich, sister-in-law Anna, father-in-law & mother-in-law John Sr. (Marie) Herner, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law Jerome (Florence) Herner, Ann (Lee) Senn, and John Herner Jr.
