The Funeral Service for Bertha Mortenson, age 96, of Bismarck, ND, formerly of Elgin, ND, will be at 10:30 am MDT on Monday, September 16, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elgin.  Pastor Nathan Laska will officiate with burial to follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Elgin.

Visitation will be from 1-7pm with a family service at 7pm on Sunday, September 15 ^th all at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin.

BERTHA BAUMEISTER was born on October 27, 1922 to Barney and Anna (Hoyum) Baumeister on the family farm north east of Watauga, SD.  She attended rural school in Sioux County, ND.

Bertha married Arnold Mortenson on October 8, 1940 in Flasher, ND.  They lived on a farm north of Lark, ND for a few years before moving to a farm north of Carson, ND.  They retired in 1984 and moved to Elgin.  Arnold passed away in January of 2002.  Bertha remained in Elgin until 2010 when she moved to Edgewood Vista in Bismarck, ND. She passed away at the CHI St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck on Sunday, September 8, 2019.

Surviving Bertha are her two daughters Eileen (Allen) Balliet, Bismarck, ND; Annette Theurer, Elgin, ND; one son Darryl (Shoni) Mortenson, Lincoln, ND, 11 grandchildren,  Mike (Penny), Kevin, and Kathy Theurer, Scott (Deeann), and Rick (Tammy) Balliet, Kurt (Debbie), Monte,  Michael, Tammy, Taylor and Kylee Mortenson; 18 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Arnold, Jr. "Sonny", brothers, Pete and George, sisters, Clara, Evelyn, Amy, Bernice, and Helen, son-in-law Mike Theurer, great-grandson Kevin Theurer, and twin great-granddaughters.
