The Funeral Service for Bertha Mattis, age 84 of Hettinger, will be held at 10:30am MT, Friday, September 30, 3016 at the Assembly of God Church in Hettinger. Pastor Allen Wickstrom will officiate with burial in the Hettinger Cemetery.

Serving as casketbearers are Roger Hehn, Tim Mattis, John Kelly Martin, Perry, Leon, and Richie Kirschemann.

Bertha Lorene Kirschenmann was born November 22, 1931 at Regent, ND to Fred and Emelia (Koch) Kirschenmann. She grew up on a farm southwest of Regent and attended the Alden Schol #2. The family moved to Hettinger and Bertha started working at the hospital. She retired in 1991 when her health began to fail. She was united in marriage to Oscar Mattis on November 12, 1976.

Bertha passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND.

She was active in the Assembly of God Church.

Surviving family members include her husband, Oscar, Hettinger, ND; 2 sisters, Lenora Bolyard, Folson, CA; Rosella (Rennie) Tichnor, Concord, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Harold and Reuben Kirschemann.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 1:00 to 7:00pm at the Centennial Chapel of the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger.
