Long time Carson resident Berdie Heinz passed from this earth into the loving arms of the Lord on April 28th, 2010 at Newcastle, Washington. Bertha (Berdie) Elizabeth Heinz was born July 3, 1911, the fifth child of Pete & Barbara (Koch) Schlosser at Old Leipzig, ND.

With four older brothers, she had to hold her own and became very competitive in sports. She was a "bloomer girl" and a starter on the Carson girls' basketball team for five years. She graduated from Carson High School in 1929.
She married her high school sweetheart John Heinz in 1932. To this union were born six living children: Donna Mae, Joanne, Sharon, Johnny, Robert and Elizabeth.

Berdie spent her married life on a farm on the Heart River north of Carson. She was a fantastic cook and a wonderful mother. After John's death in 1977, she moved to Carson where she enjoyed time with her many friends. She especially enjoyed her bowling league. After suffering a stroke in 2001 she moved to Seattle to be near family.

Her husband, parents, siblings and many close friends preceded her in death. She is survived by four generations of children. Those being Donna Mae (Ray) Eslinger, Granite Falls, WA, Joanne (Kenny) Arnts, Valley Ford, WA, Sharon Hegge, Seattle, WA, Johnny (Inge) Heinz, Whispering Pines, NC, Robert (Gloria) Heinz, Lexington, NE, and Beth (Dave) Wingenbach, Firestone, CO. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren scattered throughout the world.

A memorial service will be held at noon, on Sunday, May 2nd at the Bonney – Watson Funeral Home in SeaTac, WA for friends and relatives in the Seattle area.

During Berdie's almost 99 years on this earth, her pride and joy was her family, which continues to grow and prosper. She was loved and gave great love in return. She will be missed.
