Bernice Betty Nehlich was born August 12, 1934 in Roscoe, South Dakota. She was the daughter of John and Paulina (Weiderich) Nehlich. Bernice grew up in Roscoe where she attended school, and she later moved to Selby, South Dakota. On September 4, 1955 she was married to Franklin Kulm in Selby. Following their marriage they lived in various communities while Frank working on road construction. In 1975 they settled in Belle Fourche and for several years Bernice worked at the Don Pratt Manor in Belle Fourche.

Bernice will always be remembered for her tremendous collection of dolls. "Bernice's Bungalow of Babies" was always open for visitors, as Bernice enjoyed showing the more than 2000 dolls she had collected throughout her life. She said she collected dolls because it was a chance for a "grown up" like her to play with dolls. She also was a doll appraiser for many people wanting to know the value of their dolls. Bernice was also an excellent seamstress and cook and she enjoyed gardening. She was a committed wife, and on Labor Day it would have been her and Frank's 51st wedding anniversary. She was a proud grandmother and great grand mother and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Bernice is survived by her husband, Franklin of Belle Fourche; daughter, Denise (Ronald) Anderson of Belle Fourche; sister, Irene (Kenny) Rissmann of Ipswich SD, 2 grandchildren, Michael (Teresa) Anderson and Taffy Anderson; 1 great grandson, Bren Anderson; brother-in-law, Martin Norby of Selby SD; and step-brother, Eddy Brandner of Washington State.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marcey Norby; and step-brother, Delano Brandner.
