Gussie was born to Samuel and Rosa Loer on September 20, 1920 in Avon, South Dakota. She grew up on a farm in Marion, South Dakota. At the age of 16, she moved to Chancellor, South Dakota. Gussie married Harold Reiners on November 5, 1937 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to which Virgil and Evelyn were born. On September 3, 1948, she married Walter Reinhold Beckman in Montana to which Violet, Rosalie, Wally, Annette and Jeanette were born. On May 19, 1991, Gussie married Theodore Wipf in Hettinger, North Dakota.

Gussie was a member of the Royal Neighbors and the Hettinger Lutheran Church. She enjoyed going to Bible study at the Baptist and Assembly of God churches. She loved her church music and she loved the Lord. Gussie had beautiful flower gardens and indoor plants. She enjoyed embroidery, crocheting and quilting. Her other hobbies included baking, canning and dancing in the kitchen while cooking. Spending time with her family and playing games brought her great joy.  Gussie loved getting her hair done every Friday and going downtown to visit with her friends. Gussie was a genuine conversationalist; truly caring about people. She made every person feel special. She had a special place in her heart for her granddaughter, Brandy Beckman, who had stayed by her side and cared for her for the last ten years. The two of them spent all of their days together having lunch, running errands and enjoying each other's company. They enjoyed laughter and music, planting the garden, sewing together, loved trying new recipes, and just being with each other.

Gussie is survived by her six children; Evelyn Francis (Vancouver, WA), Violet (Gary) Helfrich (Hettinger, ND), Rosalie (Javier) Chavez (Woodward, OK), Wally (Michelle) Beckman (Mohall, ND), Annette (Jim) Schmidt (North St Paul, MN), Jeanette Foyt (Hettinger, ND); her sister Rosie Krumbach (Parker, SD), and her daughter-in-law, Carol Reiners (Hettinger, ND); 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
