ARTHUR WEIKUM was born March 24, 1916 at Elgin, ND to Henry and Marie (Wiersche) Weikum. He attended Antelope Country School near the family homestead. Art was united in marriage to Olivia Schock on December 4, 1938 at the Stone Church north of Elgin. They moved to the Ben Sprecher farm on March 20, 1939. The Weikum's farmed and ranched together there until late 1976. They then moved to their home in Elgin and he continued to help his sons on their farm. In June of 2007, they moved into Dakota Hills together.

Throughout the years, Art served on the Antelope School District Board and on the Old Leipzig Township Board. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, sang in the church choir, and served as a trustee.

Some of the greatest and happiest times were when he and Olivia spent time with family and friends. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his crops grow and the fruit trees mature and bear fruit. In his retirement years, he liked working with wood and fishing with family and friends.

He has been in failing health the past 9 years. Arthur passed from this life early Sunday morning, October 7, at the Jacobson Memorial Hospital in Elgin at the age of 91 years, 6 months, 13 days.
