Arloween (Wieland) Remington was born February 21, 1938 in Regent, ND. She attended grade school and high school at the Regent Public School graduating with honors in 1956.

She attended Concordia College for one year before transferring to Dickinson State College where she graduated with a Standard Teaching Degree in 1959. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Mayville State College in 1976.

Arloween was united in marriage to Darrel Remington of Mott on February 1, 1959 in Regent. She taught school in New Leipzig, ND before she and her husband moved to Rapid City, SD. Born to their marriage were two sons, Todd (Lety) Remington of Bismarck, ND and Kevin (Lisa) Remington of Richardton, ND.

Arloween and Darrel were blessed with six grandchildren; Jennifer (Jeffrey) Paredez, San Antonio, TX, Kevin Remington Jr., Richardton, ND, Kori Remington, New Salem, ND, Scott Remington, deceased, Jackee (Miguel) Avalos, San Antonio, TX and Andrea Remington, Bismarck, ND.

Arloween was amongst the world's finest cooks and enjoyed preparing for large groups of people. She was also a great basketball fan with knowledge of the game beyond that of many coaches and fans. She also took great care in her penmanship believing that if an item was important enough to put to paper that all should be able to read and understand it.

Arloween taught a total of 38 years including time at New Leipzig, Rapid City, SD, Regent and Mott. She was a most devoted teacher and loved each child to a degree that was noteworthy. In addition to her teaching contributions, Arloween also served on the West River Medical Services Board of Directors for nine years. She was also a proud member of the Regent American Legion Auxiliary for many years. In earlier times she made herself available to sing at weddings, funerals and other special occasions.

Arloween will be remembered most for her love and her generosity. She truly embodied that it is better to give than to receive and did so for those she loved; her God, her country, her family and especially her students.

In addition to her husband, her children, and grandchildren, Arloween leaves behind two sisters, Cleone (Larry) Guinn, GA and Twila (Robert) Marthaller, Bismarck, ND. She also had 41 nieces and nephews. She shared a special relationship with Tammy (Robert) Dolan, Stacy (Todd) Murschel, Amy Gravseth, Larry (Nina) Guinn Jr., Christopher (Suki) Guinn and Larrece (Jonathon) Groover.

Arloween was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Myrtle Olson, as well as aunts and uncles, Morris and Freda Faldet, and Elmer and Maggie Monke.
