Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial for Arletta Lynch, age 63, of Lemmon, SD, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lemmon, SD. Fr. Tony Grossenburg will officiate with burial to follow in the Greenhill Cemetery.

Arletta Mae Wanstedt was born on March 24, 1953, to Norman and Eunice (Lighthall) Wanstedt, of Keldron, SD. She spent her childhood on the family farm, attended White Deer Grade School and graduated from Lemmon High School in 1971. Arletta was an active member of 4-H and FFA while in school and received multiple awards and much recognition for her hard work. She especially enjoyed showing her prized horse, Ginger, a red sorrel mare with whom she earned an embellished bridal and breast collar.

Following her graduation, Arletta briefly attended South Dakota State University in Brookings to earn a degree in nursing. However, health concerns limited her ability to finish college and she eventually returned to the family farm. It was there that she met the love of her life, Denis Lee Lynch, who was a hired man for Norman. A courtship ensued and the two shared their vows on October 25, 1975 at the Bethel American Lutheran Church in Morristown, SD. To this union, three sons were born, Shane, Ryan and Brett. After Denis's passing in 2003, Arletta continued living at home raising her youngest son. In July of 2004, she entered Five Counties Nursing Home and resided there until her passing. She was always thankful for all the help and support she received from her family and the nursing home staff..

Arletta's faith was the cornerstone upon which she built a loving household. She converted to Catholicism and became a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morristown, SD. Blessed with the birth of her grandchildren, Kelly and Landon to Shane and Tracy, Arletta spent her remaining days as a devoted grandmother. Arletta overcame adversity in her life with courage, dignity, humility and grace. Her strength came from her relationships with family and friends. As quoted by many, Arletta always had a witty comment and a smile on her face.

Arletta met her loving Saviour face to face on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon, SD.

Keeping her in their most treasured memories are her three sons, Shane (Tracy) Lynch, Keldron, SD, Ryan Lynch, Lemmon, SD, and Brett (Alex) Lynch, Des Moines, IA; two grandchildren, Kelly and Landon Lynch, and one on the way; one brother, Alan (Barb) Wanstedt, Findley, OH; one niece, Nicole (Matt) Brocke; two nephews, Kirk (Lori) Wanstedt and Chad Wanstedt; and two great-nieces, Ally Wanstedt and Victoria Brocke.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Eunice Wanstedt; and her husband, Denis in 2003.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a rosary/vigil service at 7:00 p.m. all on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon, SD.
