The Rosary Service for Angela Schiley, age 97 of Meadow, formerly of Spearfish, will be held at 10:00am followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 10:30am, on Saturday, Feburary 26, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lemmon. Fr. Tony Grossenburg will officiate with burial in Greenhill Cemetery at Lemmon.


Serving as casketbearers are RJ Schiley, Buck Schiley, Don Landis, Dave Schell, Don Mistelski and David Lewton. All friends and relatives are considered honorary casketbearers.


ANGELA SCHELL was born August 27th, 1913 to John and Rosa (Volk) Schell in a sod house at their homestead north of Meadow, SD. She attended the Thompson School near Meadow and graduated from Lemmon High School in 1932.


She was united in marriage to Roy Schiley on January 12, 1937 at Bison, SD. They farmed and ranched near Meadow. While on the farm, Angela enjoyed gardening and planted many fruit trees. They had one son, Bob. Due to Roy's failing health, they moved to Spearfish, SD in 1975 and Roy passed away on November 2, 1975. Angela continued to live in Spearfish where she enjoyed traveling and playing cards. In 2008, she moved to Lemmon where she resided at Five Counties Nursing Home.


Angela was a member of the St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Meadow, St. Joseph's Altar Society and the Senior Citizens Center in Spearfish, SD.


Angela Schiley passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger.


Surviving family members include son, Bob Schiley, Meadow, SD; 3 grandsons, RJ (Karin) Schiley, Meadow, SD; Buck (Abby) Schiley, Rapid City, SD, Don Landis, Hettinger, ND; 3 granddaughters, Tina (Charles) Bradley, Rapid City, SD, Yvonne (Joe) Malley, Cataldo, ID, Lea (Dennis) Kling, Keldron, SD and families; 3 great grandchildren, Macy, Cash, and Kate Schiley, Meadow, SD; 2 sisters, Barbara Johnson, Sweet Home, OR; Marie Hoff, Lemmon, SD; 1 brother, James Schell, Lemmon, SD.


She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rosa Schell; her husband, Roy; 2 brothers, Romolius Schell and Jonas Schell; 3 sisters: Margaret (Schell) Schiley, Mina (Schell) Marciniak, Elizabeth (Schell) Herzog.


Visitation will be Friday, 1:00 to 7:00pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon and on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 at the church in Lemmon.
