Andrew J. Mack was born August 9, 1933, on the family farm north of Pettibone, ND to Henry and Mary (Silvernagel) Mack. He attended a country school in Kidder county. The rest of his education was at the "School of Hard Knocks".
He and his younger brother, Stanley, were drafted into the US Army in 1957. His basic training was in Fort Riley, KS and he was later stationed in Germany until he was honorably discharged two years later.
After the service, Andy and Stanley gave a go at farming for a few years. Andy worked in construction for a time, and he also had a stint in Salt Lake City, Utah working for a pesticide company.
He met the love of his life, Rosalind Schwalk at a dance in Medina in 1963. They were married August 22, 1964 in Courtney, ND. To this union, three sons were born Kordel, Troy and Andrew J Jr.
A job with Aberdeen Grain Inspection took them to Mott in 1966.
They lived there until 1975, when they moved to Burt. This became their forever home.
While living in Burt, he drove a school bus, raised cows, horses, and kids.
He was a teamster all his life. He was involved in several clubs. He was always willing to drive people around with his team of horses. Even up to his last day, he always had a team of horses.
He thoroughly enjoyed fixing anything and everything. There's nothing he couldn't fix. His sons and grandsons often sought his advice.
He was called by the Lord on October 16, 2025 at the age of 92 the way we all wish we could all be called, doing what he loved.
Andy was a man of God, Family and Country. He was honored for serving his country with a Quilt of Honor in July of 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Mack.
