Amelia Helen Heck, 92, Hettinger, ND passed away peacefully on October 4, 2021.

Graveside services for Amelia will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at the Greenhill Cemetery in Lemmon, SD, with Fr. Raphael Obotama officiating.

Born June 15, 1929 in Lemmon, SD, she grew up on a farm near Hettinger. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Heck; and four wonderful sisters, Rose Marie, Sister Everista (Pauline Heck), Mary Goetz, and Catherine Fisher. She is survived by her sister Marilyn Heck, O.S.B. member of Mother of God Monastery Elkton, SD and her many nieces and nephews and their children whom all adored her. She would exchange letters with some of them monthly up until her death.

Amelia had a strong love for animals and was her father's right-hand woman on the farm.  She always found joy in the smallest of things and cared for anyone lucky enough to cross paths with her.

Amelia was an amazing source of sunshine and joy for those privileged to be near her. She never stopped finding gratitude in even the simplest of days, and her ability to smile and laugh is something we should all hope to channel in our own lives.  May God Bless you, Amelia.
