She was born on the family homestead located about two miles north and two miles west of Bucyrus to John and Tilda (Thorson) Moen on September 7, 1908. Volunteer service included serving as the secretary to the Hettinger Cemetery Association for over 25 years.

She married Cecil M. Cook on August 6, 1934 in Bison, SD and moved to Hettinger in 1935. Cecil died on March 11, 1992.
