Alvin G. Wiens, age 82 of Elgin, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2108 at his home in Elgin.

Alvin G. Wiens was born in Mountain Lake, Minnesota on May 9, 1935, to George and Marie (Wall) Wiens. Al was the eldest of one brother, Norman, and two sisters, Esther and Gladys.
The family moved to Fresno, California when Al was about 10 years of age. He accepted the Lord as his Savior at a young age and served him throughout his life.
Al met his beloved wife Donna Hintz in Fresno, while in high school. They were married June 5, 1954 and had three daughters; Jolyn, Lori and Jill.
Al is survived by his loving wife Donna and 3 daughters, Jolyn (Darryl) Hann, their son Michael and his wife Jenny, their children Mackenzie and Madaline; and their son Philip and his wife Sarah, and their son Jaxon; daughter, Lori (John) Schwamb, their daughter Dana, and their son Erich and his wife Kalie; daughter, Jill (Ed) Parkinson, their daughter Amber Neben and her
husband Jason, and their daughter Brooke McAfee and her husband Clint, and their son Aiden.
Al's passing on Good Friday reminds us of the exciting Easter celebrations at home. Al excitedly hid the Easter eggs in anticipation and joy of watching each grandchild find their specific egg color. The frolic-some time they spent together brought out the laughter from all. Resurrection Day (Easter) was one of Al's favorite holidays.
Al was a man who loved the Lord, his family, & friends. Al sang in the choir while attending Pacific Bible College and Church in Fresno, California. He extended his music passion when he and fellow friends formed a quartet "The Stewards",
traveling to various churches to sing the gospel as he loved singing for the Lord. After moving to Elgin, North Dakota, Al was welcomed to lead the church song service at Hope Congregational Church and he was blessed to sing with another quartet that included Tom Iverson, Ray Vetter (Rubin Zimmerman occasionally subbing for Ray), Emanuel Zimmerman, and pianist Martin Vaaler, as they shared the gospel with local communities.
Al was preceded in death by his Grandfather and Grandmother Wall, parents George and Marie, his niece Sheri Robertson, and grandson Jeffrey Hann.
Al prayed for the angels to come and take him home to be with the Lord. Early in the morning of March 30, 2018, in his home in Elgin, North Dakota, and after a long battle with cancer, his prayers were answered. Praise the Lord!
Al will be deeply missed by his wife of nearly 64 years, family and friends.
