Alice Faye Schopen was born November 21, 1934 in Lead South Dakota. She was the daughter of Fred and Martha (Schock) Schopen. Alice grew up in Lead where she graduated from high school in 1952. On August 10, 1952 Alice was married to Donald Olson in Lead. To this union three children were born, Sharon, Curt, and William. Together, Donald and Alice were blessed with 54 years of marriage.

Alice and Donald have ranched east of Belle Fourche since their wedding. Alice also has worked at various places in the Belle Fourche area, including the March of Dimes and the Belle Fourche High School where she was the "Hot Lunch Lady" for many years. She also enjoyed working at St. Onge Livestock and was a member of the Red Hats, Sorority, and she enjoyed being part of a bridge club. Alice and Don had a special marriage. You hardly ever found one of them alone without the other. Their relationship got its beginning on Valentines Day in 1950 when they started "going steady". Alice was a devoted wife and mother, and she loved her children and grandchildren very much. She will be remembered for her great heart and will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Alice is survived by her husband, Donald of Belle Fourche; daughter, Sharon (Dennis) Freed of Belle Fourche; sons, Curt (Robin) of St. Onge, Bill (Michela) of Belle Fourche; 5 grandchildren, Brent (Kristy) Olson of St. Onge, Ryan Olson of St. Onge, Brandon (Cassandra) Freed of Belle Fourche, Brandy (Tyler) Escott of Miles City MT, Tricia Olson of Belle Fourche; and great grandson, Lucas Olson. She is also survived by her three sisters, Irene Kennison of Belle Fourche, Dolores (James) Mattson of Spearfish, Lerena Caretto of Vancouver WA; brother James (Sherry) Schopen of Lead; and sister-in-law, Arlene Schopen of Deadwood; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother Ralph Schopen.

May God Bless the Memory of Alice Faye Olson.
