She was born October 12, 1923 at home near Evergreen, MN to August and Catherine Mary (Mattfield) Kessler. She attended rural school through eighth grade. Alice was raised with four brothers (Arthur, Emil, George, and Dale) and two sisters (Esther and Dorothy), preceded in death by all but her brother Dale.
Alice met her future Husband, Gilmer Anderson, when he was visiting his family near her home in Minnesota. They returned to North Dakota, and were united in marriage at Wibaux, MT on March 18, 1942. After living with his parents a while, they moved to a farm south of Regent-Mott area, which they eventually purchased, farming and ranching there for 65 years, until Gilmer passed away in 2008.
They raised four daughters, all married North Dakota boys and have remained living in the state. Arlis (Tim) Effertz, rural Minot; Diane (Rodger) Auen of Tioga, Laurel (Myron) Mosolf of Jamestown; and, Donna (Tim) Zeltinger of Glenburn.
Alice was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Mott for years, and served many terms as Treasurer of WELCA. She made many quilt tops for overseas Lutheran relief. She also enjoyed crafts, crocheting, embroidery, and loved reading.
She lived alone on her farm for a couple years, then purchased a small house in Mott, where she lived until December of 2015, when she became too disabled to live alone. Her family moved her to Minot where she could be closer to them and be cared for. She lived at various facilities as needed until passing.
Along with her four daughters and their husbands, she leaves 13 Grandchildren, 27 great and 6 great-great grandchildren. One brother, Dale (Ardis) Kessler of Grand Rapids, MN: two sisters-in-law Luella Anderson, Mott and Marion Larson, Dickinson, along with many nieces and nephews.
She will be deeply missed by all.
