Albina (Paul) Geerts was born May 20, 1933 near Sheffield, ND to John and Rachel (Heidt) Paul. She was the middle of 13 children. Al attended a rural school and after she no longer went to school she worked as hired help for the neighbors, babysitting and doing house work.
She married Frederick Geerts June 7, 1954. They moved to Fred's parents farm north of Regent where they milked cows and farmed and raised their seven children until they moved into Regent in 2008.
Al was a member of St. Henry's Parish and the St. Henry's Alter Guild. She was also of member of the Regent Senior Citizens.
Al made and decorated her own wedding cake and from there she continued to decorate cakes for many years. She also enjoyed quilting, baking, and writing our history. She was very proud of the genealogy book she helped write and was very good at keeping family records. Al kept a daily diary that dates back to 1959. She also liked to spend time with kids.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren meant so much to her and they loved spending time with her. Many of the neighbors' children called her "Grandma Al". She always had time to play a game or make cookies with them. We will forever cherish all the treasures that she made for each of us, including quilts for each member of her family and nativity sets.
Albina passed away at her home on Sunday morning, May 27, 2012.
