Funeral services for Albert A. Lee, 81, of Hettinger, ND will be Monday, January 23, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hettinger Lutheran Church. Rev. Kathleen Dettmann will officiate and burial with Full Military Honors will follow at the Haynes Cemetery, Haynes, ND. Visitations will be from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday morning. A Family gathering will be at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at the Funeral Home.

ALBERT A. LEE was born on April 17, 1923 in Kansas City Township, rural Adams County, ND near Haynes, ND. He was the 3rd child of 12, born to Martin and Katie (Beck) Lee. Albert went to school at the Kansas City #4 Country School near Haynes. He entered the Marines on May 21, 1945 and was stationed in San Francisco, CA. Albert worked as a Postal Clerk while with the Marines. He was honorably discharged in August of 1946.


After returning to the family farm, north of Haynes, Albert worked at various jobs which included helping his family, Hasche Coal Mine at the Pearl Butte, just east of their farm, and the Homestake Gold Mine near Lead, SD. He also worked for Hasche-Jennings Road Construction, later known as Forrest Jennings Construction and the Adams County Highway Department. Albert spent 33 years as a heavy equipment operator, was a volunteer Ambulance Driver, a member of the Fire Department, the American Legion and the Eagles.

On May 5, 1956, Albert was married to Alice Bartels in Bismarck, ND. To this union, two sons and one daughter were born, Lynn, Alvin "Bud" and Laura. Albert loved to go camping and fishing. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, or even just by himself. Albert loved to visit with friends and family, but his greatest joy was spending time with his children, his granddaughters, his great grandson and his great granddaughter.


Albert Lee passed away on January 17, 2006 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND. Albert will truly be missed by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Alice, of Hettinger, son, Lynn Lee and Fiance, Katrina Hughes, Green River, WY, son, Alvin "Bud" Lee, daughter, Laura Lee, both of Salt Lake City, UT, granddaughters, Vhannessa and Amber Lee, of Salt Lake City, UT, great grandson Jordan Tyner and great granddaughter Tatym Smith, of Salt Lake City, UT, sisters, Anna Call, Black Diamond, WA, Norma (Don) Sipma, Hettinger, ND, Alice (James) Grimstead, Bismarck, ND, Arlys (Wes) Ketterling, Des Moines, IA, brothers, Emil Lee, Hettinger, ND, Eddie (Jean) Lee, Layton, UT, sisters-in-law, Doris Lee, Hettinger, Deloris Lee, Haynes, ND and Mildred Lee. Lincoln, NE. Preceding Albert in death were his parents, brothers, Jake, Robert, Norman, John and Harold, father and mother-in-law, and three brothers-in-law.
