Adeline Stang was born to John and Tillie (Bach) Stang July 28, 1920 on the farm where she grew up in Wagendorf Township in the Tepee Butte area. She attended rural country school near her home. Adeline recalled Havelock as a busy little town with two grocery stores and other businesses in an active community. She met Carl Carlson at a public dance in Havelock and they were married on July 2, 1942. They soon took over Carl's parent's homestead, making it their new home. They were both faithful members of the Regent Congregational Church and Adeline was very active in the Women's Fellowship. Most of Adeline's life was spent raising her five children and helping Carl on the farm, although not all was hard work for her. She enjoyed going on summer vacations with her family to many different states. She traveled to Europe and enjoyed Holland, the Rhine Valley and Octoberfest in Munich, Germany. Adeline always made sure there was a big meal on the table and pie for afternoon lunch. She enjoyed embroidering, gardening and canning. As she grew older, her biggest enjoyment was spending time with her family and friends that stopped in to visit.
Adeline Carlson passed away at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Mott, ND on Sunday, May 13, 2007.
